No. 187: Spiritual Aids for Confraternity Members (April, May and June)
April
- April is the month of the Blessed Sacrament. Make extra visits to the Blessed Sacrament during the week. Adore Our Lord, make acts of love, thanksgiving, contrition and tell Him of your trials; if unable, make spiritual visits and spiritual Communions.
- Daily extra prayer: Pray and make extra sacrifices for our bishops and priests and for many holy vocations to the priesthood.
- Intention: Pray that our youth may be given the special graces they need to live their holy Faith with strength and conviction amidst the assaults of the world.
- Suggested books for spiritual reading: The Blessed Sacrament by Faber, Consecration to Mary by Libietis, The Story of a Family by Piat
May
- May is dedicated in a special way to our Blessed Mother. Honor her by making a May shrine in your home. Pray the daily Rosary and all family prayers around it. Crown the statue of Our Lady each day with fresh flowers, and teach your children to bring her bouquets, and to honor her in all their actions. Choose one of her virtues to strive in a special way to imitate.
- Daily extra prayer: Little Crown of the Blessed Virgin Mary
- Intention: Pray for the apostolate of Catholic education, for the graces needed by teachers and students, and for Catholic children who are unable to attend Catholic school.
- Suggested books for spiritual reading: Our Lady Book by Lasance, Holy Abandonment by Lehodey, St. Philip Neri by Matthews
June
- June is the month dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Say often during the day, “O Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place my trust in Thee” or some other short prayer to the Sacred Heart.
- Daily extra prayer: Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus or another prayer to the Sacred Heart.
- Intention: Pray for the spiritual success of the annual retreats of the Religious Congregation of Mary Immaculate Queen, and especially for those Sisters who will renew their vows.
- Suggested books for spiritual reading: Words of Love a compilation, The Sermons of St. Francis de Sales on Prayer, The Shadow of His Wings by Goldmann
