The New Religion of Naturalism
by Rev. Fr. Benedict Hughes, CMRI
...In the 1880s the Apostleship of Prayer began publishing a monthly League Leaflet, which announced the Pope’s special intention for the following month. The recommended form of the morning offering ran as follows: “O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer Thee all my prayers, works and sufferings of this day, for all the intentions of Thy Most Sacred Heart, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, in reparation for my sins, for the intentions of all our associates, and for the general intention recommended for this month.” That general intention was determined each month by the pope. Well, this practice continues today, as “Pope” Francis determines for the Conciliar Church an intention for each month. These are announced in professionally-produced 3-minute videos. What is striking, however, is the naturalism that pervades the intentions. Intentions such as to save the environment or to abolish the death penalty have become the norm, instead of asking for prayers for the conversion of sinners, the perseverance of the just, and the relief of the souls in purgatory...

The Papacy: Deception, Dilemma, Dogma
by Rev. Fr. Dominic Radecki, CMRI
The cover of Newsweek’s September 18, 2015, issue is quite interesting because, with the darkened picture of Francis, they posed the question, “IS THE POPE CATHOLIC?” This query was prompted because even they realized that Francis’ actions, teachings, texts, and words contradict the teachings of the 260 true popes and 20 General Councils of the Catholic Church...

Excommunicated! The Life and Thoughts of Rev. Father Joaquin Sáenz Arriaga, SJ (Part II)
by Antonio Rius Facius, Translated by Rev. Fr. Ephrem Cordova, CMRI
The press of that day highlighted the news: For “insults to the pope” the Miter excommunicates an anti-progressive priest. In the same newspaper, in the editorial section, the concise, accurate comment warned: “This fact has very serious aspects in our opinion because it raises, in the first place, the problem of freedom within the Church. Is there a possibility of criticizing, censoring, or simply dissenting, within the Roman Catholic Church without having to run the risk of being excommunicated? Very recently another militant Jesuit priest, Porfirio Miranda, also published a book entitled Marx and the Bible, with a frank pro-Marxist inclination. To this work, Don Miguel Darío Miranda gave the imprimatur, that is, his approval, and this difference in treatment can, unfortunately, bring very bad results to the Church in Mexico. One will ask: Why does the Miter support a progressive priest who declares himself a Marxist, while on the other hand excommunicates a traditionalist?...

American Heroes of the Faith: A Different Kind of Hero
by Rev. Fr. Benedict Hughes, CMRI
In past installations of this series on American heroes we have examined the lives of various missionaries, bishops and religious who spread the Faith in our native land. There are other heroes, however, whose names for the most part are lost to history. Likely, you have never even heard of two of the priests whose lives and ordeals we shall now examine. They did not necessarily accomplish any great or striking works, but they did do something great—they suffered for Christ and for virtue. They bore patiently with the loss of their reputation...

Saint Patrick, Apostle of Ireland
A Sermon Preached on March 17, 2019, by Rev. Fr. Benedict Hughes, CMRI
My dearly beloved in Christ, I would like today, being the Feast of St. Patrick, to speak about the life of this great saint. Many people like to celebrate on St. Patrick’s Day by wearing something green, yet not many people are aware of the details of his life beyond perhaps the fact or legend that he drove all the snakes out of Ireland, or something of that nature...

True Devotion to Mary: Part V
by Rev. Fr. Dominic Radecki, CMRI
Ordinarily, people have a motive for what they do. One of the most important things we can ever do is to practice true devotion to Mary. St. Louis Marie de Montfort gives eight reasons for practicing True Devotion to Mary: 1) It devotes us entirely to the service of God. 2) It makes us practice humility and imitate the example of Our Lord and the Blessed Trinity. 3) Through it we obtain benefits from Our Lady’s service...
