Requiescat in Pace: Thomas Drahman
A Model of Living the Faith in Our Times

by Mother Mary Dominica, CMRI
Once upon a time, there was a man who thought the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass was the most important thing on earth. He was not the first, nor the only one to believe this, but in his case, this idea dominated his entire life. This was, of course, most reasonable and sensible, and it is a curious thing that we make so much of him for it. It is perhaps because so many of us are not sensible enough to throw ourselves wholeheartedly into living according to what we believe. Tom Drahman was a man of faith....

Francis’ Message for Lent: A Critical Review
This article appeared on the website, “Novus Ordo Watch,” on February 24, 2020.
It’s almost Lent, and so the Vatican has published Francis’ Lenten message for this year. Once again it displays the usual Bergoglian approach: He excessively emphasizes the temporal over the eternal and places the supernatural at the service of the natural. Sound familiar? Let’s have a critical look at some of what he says. ....

Letter to a Fallen-Away Catholic
How Does It Happen That a Catholic Loses the Faith?
by Rev. Fr. Gabriel Lavery, CMRI
Dear N.,
I meant to respond to you some time ago but wanted to wait until I had time to respond adequately. In the meantime I did remove you from my email list as requested. I was, of course, very saddened to read your remarks against the Church. When a Catholic falls away, there is always something else going on that leads to the loss of faith; the sin against faith is never the first sin but is the end result of other sins which cause the blindness which ultimately leads to the denial of faith.....

Respice Stellam: Voca Mariam
The Compassion of Mary
by a Religious Sister of the Congregation of Mary Immaculate Queen
He who is growing in devotion to the Mother of God,” wrote the saintly poet-priest of the Oratory, Father Faber, “is growing in all good things. His time cannot be better spent; his eternity cannot be more infallibly secured. But devotion is, on the whole, more a growth of love... and there is nothing about Our Lady which stimulates our love more effectively than her Dolors” (Foot of the Cross, p. 89)....

American Heroes of the Faith: Missionaries of the Upper Midwest (Part I)
by Rev. Fr. Benedict Hughes, CMRI
In the last few installments we have seen the benefits that came to the Church in the United States from the French, including Sulpician priests who were forced to leave France due to the Revolution there, as well as the acquisition of new territory through the Louisiana Purchase, including the city of New Orleans. There is one additional area of growth of the Church in this country due to the influence of French clergy which we would like to explore further, and that is the spread of the Faith throughout the Upper Midwest, covering the current states of Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin.

In Season — Out of Season: “Greater Love Than This No Man Hath...”
by Rev. Fr. Casimir Puskorius, CMRI
"I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know Me. Even as the Father knows Me and I know the Father. And I lay down my life for the sheep.”
Venerable religious, dear parishioners, when we read these words, we realize that they are not just a metaphor. They are not just a pious expression on Our Lord’s part. He literally chose to lay down His life, to die for us. So difficult was it for Him, as we know, that in the Garden of Olives he sweat blood. That was the emotion He felt in anticipation of His Passion and death. Yet He submitted to the will of His Father, and the will of His Father was that He should lay down His life, that He should die. ...

Servus Mariae: Save Your Soul
by Rev. Fr. Dominic Radecki, CMRI
Our Lord summarized His teachings when He said, “What does it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, but suffer the loss of his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matt. 16: 26.) In these verses, Christ teaches that the attainment of the everlasting happiness of Heaven must be our primary goal in life. It is infinitely more important than the attainment of the fleeting pleasures, riches, power and honor that the world can offer....
