On the Value of Holy Fear
By Rev. Fr. Benedict Hughes, CMRI
In our last issue we reported on the sermon of “Pope” Francis for the feast of Corpus Christi. He spoke of the Holy Eucharist, saying: “The Eucharist is not the reward of saints, but the Bread of sinners. This is why he [Christ] exhorts us: ‘Do not be afraid! Take and eat.’” This statements is astonishing and demonstrates in a nutshell what is wrong with the Conciliar Church of Vatican II: it has lost the fear of God....

Fatima Conference 2021: “A Servant of Mary Shall Never Perish”
By Mother Mary Dominica, CMRI
The Fatima Conference opened quietly on the evening of October 6, 2021, with a low Mass followed by dinner. Although guests would continue to arrive over the next few days until the weekend high point, it was already obvious that this would be one of the better-attended Conferences of the decade...

Transubstantiation, Consubstantiation, Transignification: What’s the Difference?
By Rev. Fr. Joseph Appelhanz
Throughout the history of the Catholic Church, bishops and priests have fulfilled this command of their Divine Master. The sacrifice of Calvary has constantly been renewed. The priest changes bread and wine into the body and blood of Christ, a change which the Church calls Transubstantiation. This sacrifice was foretold by the prophet Malachias: “For from the rising of the sun even to the going down,...

Holy Water — a Most Powerful Sacramental (Part II)
From Adsum, June 2002 (Newsletter of Mater Dei Seminary)

The Spiritual Works of Mercy
by Rev. Fr. Dominic Radecki, CMRI
By this will all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:5). The Catholic Church presents two ways of assisting others: the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy. The Corporal Works of Mercy center on
providing the necessities of life for others and include visiting the sick and imprisoned. The Spiritual Works of Mercy focus on guiding souls to heaven and doing what is necessary to get there....

"The Servant of Mary Will Never Perish..."
The servant of Mary shall never perish.” How consoling ought we to find these words! For they express an opinion held by many of the saints, namely, that devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary is a sign of predestination. “Happy are they,” says St. Bonaventure, “who enjoy Mary’s favor. The blessed in heaven consider them as their future companions.” According to St. John Damascene, God inspires devotion to Mary only in those souls whom He wishes to save. Hence, the great Doctor of the Church, St. Albert, writes that devotion to Mary is the surest sign of one’s eternal salvation....

Early American Bishops: Part III Problems for the Church from Within and Without
by Rev. Fr. Benedict Hughes, CMRI
The Catholic bishops who guided the Church in America in those early days of our country deserve our respect and gratitude. They were trailblazers who had to weather the storms of persecution from without and ignorance or bad will from within. In this article we will discuss first, the antipathy against the Church from Protestants and other non-Catholic Americans in the 19th century and, second, the scandals and divisions caused by trustees of Catholic churches, who sought power and control over the Church...

The Spiritual Combat
by Rev. Fr. Dominic Radecki, CMRI
Everything in the world has a meaning, a reason, a purpose. That is why children continually ask their parents, “Why? Why, mommy? Why, daddy?” Don’t tell them that something has no purpose because then they will ask, “Why?”...
