The Feminization of the Conciliar Church
By Rev. Fr. Benedict Hughes, CMRI
As a young priest I was assigned to travel on lecture tours throughout the United States, speaking about the situation in the Church and the message of Fatima. The goal was to alert Catholics to what was happening in their churches. In the course of these travels I met with many Catholics who were alarmed at what had taken place with the Novus Ordo. What particularly struck me — it was in the early 1980s — was that so many older Catholics were quite incensed about the altar girls!...
The Joy of Loving God
Reflections on the Life of St. Philip Neri
By Rev. Fr. Philip Davis, CMRI
Few men in history have left a more deep and lasting mark than St. Philip Neri. History does not record any singularly great events surrounding him during his lifetime, nor was he known by his contemporaries to be “great” in the sense that Alexander was great, or St. Leo was great. He was merely a humble priest known for his saintly, cheerful ways. It is one of the great contradictions that are so familiar to Catholics that St. Philip showed his greatness: his greatness was in his lowliness, in his profound humility (and sanctity)...

May a Catholic Eat Halal Meat?
By Rev. Fr. Eugen Rissling
The Question. This question has been raised by European Catholics who want to err on the side of safety and want to avoid offending God at all costs. It is occasioned by the general knowledge of the fact that in Islam, for religious reasons, only meat that is halal-certified is permissible, and that most Kebab restaurants in Europe are run by Muslim Turks...
Inevitable Divisions on Full Display
The “Good Cops” in the Conciliar Church versus the “Bad Cops”
By Rev. Fr. Benedict Hughes, CMRI
In the last few installments of this series we have explored the spread of the Faith in the far west. Let us now return to the eastern seaboard to study the growth of the Church in the early years of the new country. The first bishops deserve particular attention, given the difficulties they faced in propagating the Faith in the United States...
The War of the Cristeros
by a Seminarian
Many people identify Mexico as a nation synonymous with Catholicism. Beautiful cathedrals and churches are scattered across this land south of the border. The notable devotion of the Mexican people towards the Virgin of Guadalupe and their observance of the “Día de los Muertos" are generally known outside the country. However, despite this rich Catholic history and culture, the Catholic Church as we know it was criminalized and banned for more than 70 years during the 20th century. The Church was not allowed to have property of its own, run schools, and religious houses and seminaries were closed...
The Great Co-Redemptrix
By Rev. Fr. Benedict Hughes, CMRI
In December, 2019, “Pope” Francis referred to the idea of assigning to the Blessed Virgin Mary the title of Co-redemptrix as being mere “foolishness.” On March 24 of this year he doubled down on that insult to the Mother of God during a general audience, saying: “… the mother who covers everyone under her mantle as a mother — Jesus entrusted us to her as a mother, not as a goddess, not as a Co-redemptrix, as a mother.” Such insulting language from a man who claims to be pope is not only shocking and akin to blasphemy, it is also deeply troubling to those who love and honor the holy Mother of God and delight in calling to mind her many privileges, virtues and graces...
Motherhood
A Sermon Preached by Rev. Fr. Jeremy Saunders on Mothers’ Day, 2020
The life of children and mothers, as all of us know, is very closely bound up. The affection of mother for child is certainly one of the strongest there is, and it is a beautiful thing how God has provided for mankind the family. For where a family follows God, there will not normally be lacking someone to care for the others when they are in need. For children are so dependent on their parents, and they have a complete trust and confidence in them. And this affection is to be returned, when in their old age the parents need the help of the child...
Early Missionary Activity in the State of Kentucky
By Rev. Fr. Benedict Hughes, CMRI
The question may be asked (and justly so): why should a traditional Catholic living in the 21st century care about the story of a few missionaries in a scarcely populated land? A just follow-up question could then be: would it not be more beneficial to spend one’s time in identifying and refuting the main players in the disastrous Second Vatican Council, or in some other equivalent labor? The author of this essay readily grants that the topic of the missionary activity east of the Mississippi River in the 18th and 19th centuries is not of the greatest importance to students of ecclesiastical history, but he steadfastly maintains that such a study has a definite, concrete value...
Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
By Rev. Fr. Dominic Radecki, CMRI
During a trip to some of the Catholic shrines of France, I visited the small chapel at Paray-le-Monial where, from 1673-1675 Our Lord appeared to a Visitation nun, St. Margaret Mary, and revealed the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. As a little girl, St. Margaret Mary preferred silent prayer to playing and had a deep devotion to Our Lady. In addition, she performed many acts of self-denial and penance. When St. Margaret Mary became a nun at the age of 24, she had an intense love for the Blessed Sacrament...
