Return to The Reign of Mary No. 169
The Reign of Mary
Vol. XLXIX, No. 169: Letter from the Editor
September 12, 2018
Holy Name of Mary
Dear friends in Our Lady,
Praised be Jesus and Mary. During this month of September we celebrate several significant feasts of Our Blessed Mother. Among the lesser known of these is that of the anniversary of her apparition at La Salette, France, on September 19, 1846. What is particularly unique about that appearance is that the children saw Our Blessed Mother weeping. With good reason did Our Lady weep over the laxity of morals and indifference to religion of post-revolutionary France. Yet, how much greater reason is there for all of us to lament the tragic consequences to immortal souls resulting from the Great Apostasy from the Faith that we witness in our own times?
It has now been 60 years since the death of that great pontiff Pope Pius XII, who was called by God out of this world on October 9, 1958. It would be difficult to find an historical figure that has been more maligned and misrepresented than Pope Pius XII. Consequently, faithful Catholics ought to know about his virtuous life, his outstanding teachings, and his eminent qualities. And so we especially dedicate this issue of The Reign of Mary (as well as our forth-coming Fatima Conference) to his memory. How greatly does the Church of today need a vicar of Christ of his virtue and wisdom! May Our Divine Lord, through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother, look with pity upon the struggling faithful and grant us such a leader!
In stark contrast to the eminence, orthodoxy, and piety of Pope Pius XII stands Paul VI, elected “pope” after the death of John XXIII in 1963 and who passed away 40 years ago this year (on August 6, 1978). During those 15 years of being the reputed pope, Montini presided over the implementation of Vatican II. He did everything possible to redefine Catholicism, introducing the Novus Ordo Missae and revising all of the sacraments. Even more than John XXIII, who called for the Second Vatican Council, Paul VI is the one who represents a radical departure from traditional Catholicism and the inauguration of a new church. Yet, this same man is now slated to be “canonized” by his successor, the scandalously heretical “Pope” Francis! The lamentable canonization ceremony is scheduled for October 14th of this year.
The devil seems daily to advance in his cunning and and skill in leading souls astray — to “deceive the elect.” Sadly, even many souls who recognize and reject the heresies of Vatican II have fallen victim to his wiles. Although we have published numerous articles on the errors of Father Leonard Feeney (e.g. issues #148, 155, 164 and 166 ), his ideas continue to ensnare souls, despite the clear teachings of the Church, and of her saints, doctors and theologians, regarding Baptism of Desire. Hence we lead off this issue with a pastoral exhortation of His Excellency, Bishop Pivarunas, warning the faithful of the errors of a certain cleric, who left our seminary and sought dubious orders from a Feeneyite bishop, and who now seeks to draw souls away from our priests. Let us beware of these dangers and pray for those who have been deceived.
May Our Lady, to whom we have consecrated ourselves, gently bestow her graces on her children and slaves, that we might continue to persevere in the true Church, founded by her divine Son Jesus, until at last we attain the happiness of heaven.
In the service of Jesus and Mary
