Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Dear friends in Our Lady,
Praised be Jesus and Mary. At the Last Supper Jesus instructed His apostles: “If you were of the world, the world would love what is its own. But, because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” These words came to mind as I read the press coverage of Francis’ September visit to Washington, New York and Philadelphia. The adulation of the large crowds lining the routes or attending the events of the visit, as well as the gushing coverage of the press strike a sharp contrast with the way true Catholicism is treated by the world.
Particularly striking were the muted references to the moral decay of America. President Obama had the White House illuminated in rainbow colors in June to show his appreciation of the infamous Supreme Court decision to legalize “gay marriage.” But did Francis make any mention of that abomination when he visited the White House in September? Or when he gave an address to the joint session of Congress, did he condemn abortion? There was plenty of talk about climate change, immigration, redistribution of wealth, etc., but precious little on abortion.
True, he did say that we have a “responsibility to protect and defend human life at every stage of its development,” but then he went on immediately to speak of the abolition of the death penalty. This leads one to think that his words on protecting and defending human life did not refer so much to the heinous crime of abortion, but rather that he was merely urging Congress to abolish the death penalty. He never mentioned the word abortion, let alone Planned Parenthood, despite the horrific video proof of their callous indifference toward the precious life of pre-born or just-born human beings. This was a glaring omission in Francis’ speech, which carries a heavy responsibility in the eyes of God.
Let us remember, that we can perceive the apostasy of the modern Conciliar Church not only in what their leaders say, but also in what they do not say. Let us not be swayed by the personality cult which seems to follow these men. Above all, be not swayed by the opinions of the world. Let us always stand for the truths of our Faith, regardless of the amoral attitude of society.
While spectacles, such as the visit of Francis to Cuba and the United States, with all its fraternizing with Communists, interfaith worship and promotion of “social justice” remind us of the utter loss of faith among members of the modern Conciliar Church, such events should also bring to mind the excellence of the gift of faith which we possess. For we know the truth, and we know why God put us in this world. Let us all the more resolve to persevere in our faith, always remaining close to Our Blessed Mother and to her holy Rosary.
In the service of Jesus and Mary
