The Greatest Ornament of the Catholic Priesthood
The History and Excellence of Clerical Celibacy
by Rev. Fr. Benedict Hughes, CMRI
“Holy virginity and that perfect chastity which is consecrated to the service of God is without doubt among the most precious treasures which the Founder of the Church has left in heritage to the society which He established.” ...But now the continuation of this sacred state has been called into question. Some argue that the lack of vocations would be resolved by allowing a married priesthood. Others suggest that celibacy is simply too difficult in our modern world. Further, there are some who, shocked and saddened by the horrible crimes of sexual abuse of minors in the Conciliar Church, have hypothesized that these crimes would be greatly diminished if only priests were allowed to marry. Although it is not the purpose of this particular article to address that question, suffice it to say that a rejection of mandatory celibacy of the clergy would not eliminate this horrific problem for the New Church. Rather, this situation is being used by many to call into question the excellence and advisability of this state of life, which has long been one of the most beautiful ornaments of the Roman Catholic Church. Let us then, in this article, take a look at the development and purpose of the practice of celibacy that has been undertaken for the love of God....
Vatican II’s Liberty of Perdition
The History and Excellence of Clerical Celibacy
by Rev. Fr. Johannes Heyne
When one hears the term “religious liberty,” or an explanation of it (e.g., one cannot use force in religious things), he might ask himself if religious liberty is such a bad thing. Is it not simply the tolerance that has been taught and practiced by the Catholic Church for many centuries? This article will answer this question. Using quotations from Dignitatis Humanae, we will show what the Second Vatican Council considers to be religious liberty.

A recent expose embarrasses the Conciliar Church — again.
by Rev. Fr. Benedict Hughes, CMRI
As mentioned in my editorial in the last issue of this magazine, the Conciliar Church continues to be embarrassed by the ongoing scandal of revelations regarding clergy sex-abuse. But this problem in the New Church masks another, which is a cause of the former, and that is the explosion of homosexuality among the clergy. And here we do not so much mean clergy who are unnaturally attracted to members of the same sex, as those who are actively engaging in a homosexual lifestyle — the so-called “gay” clergy. In the last week of July an article was printed by Panorama, an Italian weekly magazine, which exposed the gay lifestyle among many of the members of the Roman clergy. Agents for the magazine, using hidden cameras, captured priests of the diocese of Rome “visiting gay clubs and bars and having sex.”...
Martin Luther: The Real Story
What History Classes Won’t Tell You
by Julian Voth
More than 400 years after his death, the name of Martin Luther remains a familiar one to all. We learn about Luther in history, and newspapers publish stories about the anniversary of his birth or of the “reformation.” But how many people know who Martin Luther really was? The author of this article hopes to give you a more accurate portrayal of him — one which may surprise even the most knowledgeable Catholic reader.
Hernando Cortes, Conquistador of Christ
Part VII: On to Mexico
by Rev. Fr. Brendan Hughes, CMRI
Having achieved the Totonac alliance, the army returned to Vera Cruz, being met that very day by another of Cortes’ ships, which he had left in dry dock in Santiago. Francisco de Saucedo, arriving with 70 soldiers and two horsemen, reported that Governor Velasquez had received royal appointment as adelantado with authority to trade and colonize recently discovered countries. Rather than await disputes of jurisdiction, the colony resolved to apprise King Charles and Queen Dona Juana of their legal establishment of Vera Cruz and popular election of Cortes....
“Do You, At Least, Try to Console Me...”
A Sermon on the Immaculate Heart of Mary
by Very Rev. Fr. Casimir Puskorius, CMRI
I want to make Our Lady more real for you today by speaking about her heart. She has a living, beating human heart; it has been beating for over 20 centuries. Since, as you know, her heart and her entire body, along with her soul, were taken up into Heaven, it was a very real thing when she appeared to Sister Lucia and showed her her heart...
The Consecration of the Mass
The Most Sacred Part of the Holy Sacrifice
by Rev. Fr. Dominic Radecki, CMRI
The most solemn and miraculous part of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass occurs at the Consecration. It is the very essence of the sacrifice by which Christ becomes present on our altars, and is the fountain of the life of the Church. All the prayers and actions that have gone before are merely a preparation for this sublime moment.
Necessity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and of Devotion to Her (Part 2)
by Rev. Fr. Brendan Hughes, CMRI
St. Louis Marie de Montfort speaks of Mary as being necessary in God’s plan of redemption. Now, of course, God is infinite and so there is no creature — not even the Blessed Virgin — who is absolutely necessary to Him. God alone is self-existing; supreme and infinitely perfect. From all eternity, therefore, He was perfectly content in contemplating Himself. God did not bring about creation as if He were deficient without the praises which creatures might offer Him.
Peace in Absolute Surrender to Divine Providence
by Rev. Fr. Dominic Radecki, CMRI
It seems that we are living in a time in which we are encountering an abundance of crosses — not only ourselves, but others as well. When we speak with friends or relatives, we often hear of sad circumstances and great adversities which they are undergoing. These, added to our own, often leave us disturbed, perplexed and in search of an answer to the age-old question of how peace of souls can be maintained in the midst of such suffering.
